Global Optical Gurus to Speak at the LMN 2020 World Laser Manufacturing Conference – a leading laser industry event to be held in Shenzhen China in October

As a large-scale and influential laser technology application conference in China, LMN 2020 World Laser Manufacturing Conference will be held on 12-13 October in the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center (Bao’an New Hall) under the theme of "Intelligent Laser Manufacturing to Light Up the Future", which is composed of a plenary session on 12 October and parallel forums on 13 October. At the plenary session will be more than 10 top laser experts and representatives from USA, Germany, Russia, Switzerland, Singapore, Lithuania and China, who will present cutting-edge laser technologies and the latest applications, as well as explore the global trend of the laser industry to figure out the industry’s development in the post-pandemic era. LMN 2020 will be convened both online and offline, broadcasting live worldwide simultaneously. Sub-forums on 13 October comprise multiple parallel events including: ALAT 2020 China Ultrafast Laser Micro-nano Processing Conference and ALAT 2020 China High-energy Laser Automatic Processing Conference.

Breakthroughs in domestic laser cutting technology during previous years have been achieved, pushing it towards higher power, better precision and larger format. Against the background of smart manufacturing in China, industrial sectors have demonstrated a transformation from conventional processing to high-end manufacturing and the market scale of Chinese laser cutting will maintain a rapid growth. By 2023, the total market scale of Chinese laser cutting equipment is expected to hit RMB 40.37 billion. In spite of the negative impact induced by COVID-19, China, the largest market of laser equipment in the world, still reserves great potential which is not to be underestimated.

This explains why LMN 2020 has been endorsed by world-renowned Nobel Prize laureates personally, Prof. Dr. Gerard Mourou and Prof. Dr. Donna Strickland. Prof. Dr. Gerard Mourou suggested in his greeting message that “the LMN World Laser Manufacturing Conference 2020 has won the support of well-known associations and attracted prestigious scientists from all over the world to give speeches. I am convinced that it will be an ideal opportunity for people to know more about the technics in other countries and exchange their ideas, which will definitely benefit the development of laser technology for the whole world”. Prof. Dr. Donna Strickland expressed that “I could never have imagined that a laser I helped develop would be useful in eye surgery. There is no telling what advances in laser technology are in store in the future. But the collaborations and inspiration that will no doubt emerge from LMN 2020 will undoubtedly play a part”.

Presence of global top and renowned experts to LMN 2020 is unprecedented. Dozens of experts, scholars and leading figures in the laser industry, Prof. Dr. Connie Chang-Hasnain, Member of US National Academy of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Yury Kulchin, Academician of Russian Academy of Sciences, Prof. Dr. Carmen Menoni, President of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Photonics Society, Dr. Moritz Förster, Managing Director of Working Committee Laser and Laser Systems for Material Processing within VDMA, Prof. Dr. Beat Neuenschwander, One of the Initiators of SWISSPHOTONICS, Prof. Dr. Chunlei Guo from the University of Rochester (USA), Prof. Dr. Anand Asundi, Past-Founding-Chair of Optics and Photonics Society of Singapore, Kestutis Jasiunas, Member of the Board of Lithuanian Laser Association, Prof. Dr. Xiao Zhu, President of Wuhan Laser Association of Optics Valley of China, Prof. Dr. Gang Chen from Chongqing University, Prof. Dr. Zongsong Gan from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Dr. Daishu Qian, Senior Optical Engineer/Product Manager at Shenzhen JPT Opto-electronics Co., Ltd. will discuss frontier topics of ultrafast lasers, ultrashort pulse lasers, the development of laser manufacturing prototype and the current trend in the laser industry in relevant countries. Their unique insights and various perspectives are set to open up a high-level brain-storm and collision of ideas in the laser field. The plenary session on 12 October will be presided over by Prof. Dr. You Wang from Northern Laser Research Institute (Southwest Institute of Technical Physics). Dr. Jochen Köckler, Chairman of the Managing Board of Deutsche Messe AG, Mr. Ruohong Hou, President of Guangdong Laser Industry Association and Prof. Dr. Dianyuan Fan, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering will give a speech.

What is worth mentioning is that Shenzhen has become home to the strongest laser cluster with the largest production scale and the most solid industrial foundation on the Mainland thanks to years’ of innovative development and expansion of industrial agglomeration. It is fair to say that standing out in the Chinese laser industry is Shenzhen in Guangdong province where Baoan takes the spotlight. Output value of the laser industry in Baoan District reached RMB 13 billion in 2018, accounting for 46% of the total industrial output in the province. Receiving guests for LMN 2020 in Baoan, the Laser Zone in the Laser City, helps build a platform of exchanges among players in the laser industry around the world, and it is bound to drive the internationalized development of the laser industry in South China and the whole nation. Recovery of the laser industry in the post-pandemic era will enjoy a great momentum as a result.

"Intelligent Laser Manufacturing to Light Up the Future". LMN 2020 is co-organized by Hannover Milano XZQ Exhibitions (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd and Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai Ltd. During the same period, the South China International Industry Fair will be held and participated by over 500 distinct enterprises.
